Sarah Dorchman joined Line Break today. She discussed 300 years of German poetry from courtly love to reuinification.
Much of the show was in German to both highlight the effect sound has on poetry- how sound can communicate meaning even when the language is not always understood. An example of this can be found in English language poetry when obscure words are used.
Furthermore, Ms. Dorchman's reading avoided any of the stick problems associated with translation.
Unfortunately, due to cross-Atlantic technical difficulties the show is not available in a podcast format. You should still check out Steve Moore's site because he is a groovy guy.
Yusef's talk on the craft was stellar and his reading was standing room only. I'll post pictures post haste.
